Managed projects

When you search and nobody offers it: let Belancer help you

In short. If a search finds no one, Belancer shows the closest category and offers a managed project. Tick the box to be told when someone becomes available. It takes 3 steps: Read what we found; Let Belancer help you; Ask to be told.

On this page

Sometimes you search for a skill and nobody on Belancer offers it yet. Instead of a dead end, the page tells you we could not find it yet, shows the closest category, and offers to run the work for you as a managed project.

Before you start

  • Search for the skill on the Services tab with no filters on.

Steps

1Read what we found

Under the empty results, the block says We could not find your skill yet and names the closest category.

2Let Belancer help you

Choose Start a managed project. The managed request opens with your brief already started. Change it, add your details and send it. A project manager calls you.

3Ask to be told

Tick Tell me when someone is available. If you are signed out, sign in first. We message you once when someone who offers the skill appears.

Also under wider matches

When your matches or your For you rows include a Wider match (someone whose field is wider than what you asked for), the same tickbox appears under the list: Tell me when someone offers the thing you picked. It keeps what you chose in your own words, never the wider category, so we only message you when someone offers exactly that.

Also under a small category that shows its bigger one

When you open a small category with few gigs and Belancer shows the bigger category instead (a line above the list says so), the same tickbox sits under the list: Tell me when someone offers the small category's name. Ticking it keeps your ask with the small category's own name, never the bigger one, and counts it toward the skills staff see as asked for.

If something goes wrong

  • I do not see the block. It appears only when a search has words, no filters and no results. It can also be switched off for now.
  • I ticked the box but got no message. Check that you are signed in and that recommendation messages are on in your notification settings.

Questions and answers

Do I need an account?

No. You can see the offer and start a managed project without one. To be told when someone is available, sign in so we know where to message you.

Who sees what I searched?

Belancer staff see the skill and a shortened name. Email addresses, links and phone numbers you type in the search box are removed before we keep it.

How often will you message me?

At most a few times in total, and never more than the weekly limit. You can turn these messages off in your notification settings.
