On this page
When you belong to a company, you choose who you're acting as from the Acting as menu: your Personal account or the company. What you can do as the company depends on your role: Owner, Admin, Hiring manager, Finance or Member. Owners and admins invite people by email, give them roles and manage the team in Company settings › Team.
Before you start
- A company on Belancer. See create a company.
- Each teammate needs their own Belancer account with a verified email.
Steps
1Invite a teammate
In Company settings › Team, under Invite by email, type their email, choose a Role and choose Invite. The invitation is open for 7 days. To cancel it, choose Cancel invitation.
2The teammate accepts
They open the email and see "Join … on Belancer" with what their role can do. They choose Accept invitation (or Decline), then Act as the company.
3Understand the roles
- Owner: everything, including giving or removing the admin role. One owner per company.
- Admin: edits the company page, runs the team (not other admins or the owner), sends verification, posts, hires and pays.
- Hiring manager: posts projects, hires and pays.
- Finance: pays for work and keeps the billing details.
- Member: messages freelancers, discusses projects and reviews deliveries; follows orders and projects.
4Change a role or remove someone
Open Role of the person, pick a new role, or choose Remove and confirm. Nobody can change their own role, and only the owner gives or takes away the admin role.
5Switch with Acting as
Open the account menu. Under Acting as, choose Personal account or the company. The header shows who you're acting as; Belancer remembers your last choice on this device.
6Transfer ownership
Owner only: choose Transfer ownership, pick the New owner, choose Continue and confirm Make … the owner. You stay as an admin.
What happens next
Posting, hiring and paying as the company are checked against your role every time. Orders, invoices, reviews and notifications follow the identity you act as.
Troubleshooting
- "Only the owner and admins invite people and change roles." Ask an owner or admin.
- "Your role in this company can't pay for it." Members and some roles can't pay; ask finance, a hiring manager, an admin or the owner.
- The invite says it's for another email. Sign in with the account that uses the invited email, or ask for a new invite to your email.
- "This company is suspended." The company can't post or pay until the issue is resolved. Contact support.
Good to know
- Spending limits: team members who pay can have a per-payment limit; above it, a request goes to an approver. See company spend limits.
- Shared lists: company members can share saved freelancers and gigs with the team.
- No self-hiring: you can't hire your own company's agency.
Tip: Give people the smallest role they need. A designer reviewing deliveries only needs Member.
Note: Leaving a company with Leave company doesn't affect your personal account or its orders.
