On this page
Belancer shows clients four numbers about your track record: job success, on-time delivery, response rate and response time. Job success is the share of your orders that ended well; on-time is the share delivered by the due date; response rate is how often you reply to new clients in time; and response time is how fast you usually reply. They are calculated by Belancer every day from your real orders and messages.
Before you start
- These numbers appear only after you have enough history, so new sellers see a New label at first.
- You can see your own numbers on your Freelancer home and in Analytics.
Steps
1Understand job success
An order counts as successful when it completed with no lost dispute and no cancellation caused by you, and the client rated it 4 stars or more. Job success = successful orders ÷ counted orders over the last 365 days. It shows after 5 counted orders. Orders that completed automatically are included.
2Understand on-time delivery
On-time = orders delivered by their due date ÷ all delivered orders. When a client accepts your request for more time, the new date is used. Late orders are flagged on the order page.
3Understand response rate
Response rate = the share of new client conversations (first contact) you replied to within 24 hours, over the last 60 days. It appears after 5 conversations.
4Understand response time
Response time is your typical (median) time to first reply over the same period. Clients see it rounded, as Avg. response time on your profile.
5Improve your numbers
- Read requirements carefully and ask a clarifying question early.
- Ask for more time before the due date if you need it.
- Deliver what the package or offer promised; check What's included before you deliver.
- Turn on notifications so you can reply to new clients quickly. Use Quick replies for common questions.
- When you're away, pause your gigs and send a short reply saying when you'll be back, instead of leaving messages unanswered.
What happens next
Scores update once a day. Strong numbers help your ranking in search and are part of the checks for Handpicked badges, including Belancer Pro.
Troubleshooting
- My score dropped after one order. With few orders, each one moves the score a lot. It steadies as you complete more.
- An order was cancelled by mutual agreement. If it was before work started and had a reason, it doesn't count against you.
- A spam message counted against my response rate. Messages from spam or blocked users are excluded. Report spam so it's removed.
- I don't see a score at all. You need 5 counted orders for job success and 5 conversations for response rate.
Good to know
- Agency scores are separate. An agency's numbers and each member's numbers are kept apart.
- Reviews are double-blind, so the rating that counts is only revealed when both sides have reviewed, or the review window ends. See reviews.
- Offer requests count too. Try to reply to a custom offer request within 24 hours.
Tip: The fastest way to protect your on-time rate is to send a short, honest update and a more-time request as soon as you see a delay.
Note: Disputes you lose can also affect your account standing and badge eligibility. See disputes and Belancer's decision.
Questions and answers
When does my job success score appear?
After 5 counted orders. Until then your profile shows 'New'.
What counts as a successful order?
An order that completed without a lost dispute or a seller-caused cancellation, and was rated 4 stars or more.
Do cancelled orders hurt my score?
Mutual cancellations with a reason before work starts don't count. Cancellations caused by the seller do.
Does asking for more time make me late?
No, if the client accepts. Your on-time record then uses the new due date.
How is response rate counted?
It's the share of new client conversations you replied to within 24 hours, over the last 60 days.
Does pausing my gigs stop my response rate counting?
No. Messages still count while your gigs are paused, so reply when you can. The Away switch does not hide you or lower your level, so replying while you are Away still helps.
