On this page
To find work, open Find work from the menu. You see Projects for you, sorted by best match to your skills. Filter by project type, category and budget, open a project to read the full story and the client's history, and choose Write a proposal when it's a good fit. Save your search to get job alerts.
Before you start
- A live seller profile with your skills filled in, so matches are accurate. See complete your profile.
- A verified phone and an approved ID check to send proposals.
- Some credits for proposals. See credits.
Steps
1Open Find work
Choose Find work in the menu (on a phone, it's in the bottom bar). Projects for you lists live projects that fit your skills.
2Sort and filter
Sort by Best match, Newest, Highest budget or Lowest budget. Use Filters:
- Project type: Fixed price, Hourly or Remote monthly.
- Category.
- Budget: shows projects in one currency only, never converted.
- Show: Urgent, Featured, Invited to me.
- Client: Payment verified.
Choose Apply. Use Clear all filters to start again.
3Read the project
Open a project. Check the Project story, budget, skills, files, the client's questions and the credit cost. In About the client, look at Payment verified, Projects posted, Hire rate and Rating.
4Decide if it's worth your credits
Good signs: clear scope, a budget that fits the work, payment verified, a decent hire rate, and few proposals so far. NDA projects are coming soon. See NDA projects.
5Write a proposal
Choose Write a proposal. If you were invited, you see "You're invited: this proposal uses no credits". See send a proposal.
6Save your search for job alerts
Save the search with your filters and pick how often to get alerts: instant, daily or weekly. You only get an email when something new matches.
What happens next
Projects you've proposed to show "You sent a proposal". Track them in My proposals. When a client views, shortlists or messages you, you're notified.
Troubleshooting
- "Verify your phone number before sending proposals." Choose Verify phone. See verify your phone number.
- "Verify your ID before sending proposals." Choose Verify ID. See ID check.
- "This project isn't taking proposals." It was closed, filled or expired.
- "No projects match." Try fewer filters or other words. New projects arrive every day.
- I don't see a project a friend mentioned. It may be private (invite only) or in another currency than your budget filter.
Good to know
- Sealed budgets show as "Budget hidden"; read the story and propose a fair price.
- Private projects are visible only to invited freelancers.
- Contact details are never shown for clients. Talk only through Belancer messages.
- Gigs bring clients to you, too. Many freelancers combine proposals with a strong gig. See create a gig.
Tip: Reply quickly to invitations and messages. Fast responses improve your response rate and your chance to be hired.
Important: A client asking you to pay a fee, work for free as a "test" outside Belancer, or move to WhatsApp is a warning sign. See stay safe and avoid scams.
Questions and answers
Why can't I send a proposal?
You need a verified phone and an approved ID check before sending proposals. The project page shows what's missing, with Verify phone or Verify ID.
How much does a proposal cost?
The project page shows the credit cost before you write. A standard proposal costs 2 credits. Proposals to projects you were invited to are free.
Can I see projects in USD?
Yes. Projects show their budget in the client's currency, and you're paid in that currency. The budget filter shows one currency at a time and never converts.
What does 'Payment verified' mean on a client?
The client has made at least one successful payment on Belancer. It is set only by the payment system, never by the client.
Can I get alerts for new projects?
Yes. Save your search on Find work and choose instant, daily or weekly job alerts.
Can I bid on my own company's project?
No. You can't send proposals to your own projects or to projects posted by your company or agency.
