Messages is where clients and freelancers talk: before an order, during work, and after. You can send text, files and voice notes, ask for or send a custom offer, and start a voice or video call, all without leaving Belancer. Keeping conversations here gives both sides a clear record and keeps you inside Belancer's payment protection.

Before you start

  • Verify your email; some actions, like requesting an offer, need it.
  • New clients can start a limited number of new conversations a day (10), to stop spam.

Steps

1Open Messages

Choose Messages in the top bar. Use Search people or messages and the Show filters: All, Unread, Offers, Starred, Archived, Mentions.

2Write and send

Type your message and choose Send. You see "… is typing…" when the other side is writing, and the other person's local time in the header.

3Add files or a voice note

Choose Add files ("Images, PDF, ZIP, Word, Excel or text · up to 25 MB each · virus-scanned"). Voice notes can be up to 120 seconds.

4Use offers in chat

  • Clients: choose Request an offer to ask for a custom offer. "Nothing is charged until you accept an offer."
  • Freelancers: choose Create an offer to send one. See send a custom offer.

5Start a call

Choose the call button in the conversation header. The other side can accept or decline. In the call you can use camera, mic and screen share. Missed calls and call length are logged in the chat.

6Save quick replies

Choose Quick replies › New, give it a Name and the Reply, and Save. Insert it into any message later.

7Organise your inbox

From More options: Star this conversation, Archive, Mute email alerts, View profile, Block or Report conversation.

What happens next

Order and offer updates appear in the conversation as short notes (for example "Order started", "Offer accepted"). If a message stays unread, we email you after 15 minutes, unless you muted that conversation.

Troubleshooting

  • "Not sent. Messages are blocked in this conversation." One of you blocked the other.
  • "This file is bigger than … MB." Compress it or split it.
  • "This file failed the virus check, so nobody can open it." Send a clean copy.
  • "Not sent. You're sending a lot. Wait a moment." Slow down a little.
  • A phone number turned into "[phone hidden]". See contact details hidden.

Good to know

  • Agencies and companies: you can send as yourself or the account you're acting as ("Sending as …").
  • Evidence: order chats are part of the record if a problem is reported.
  • Archived conversations can be brought back with Move back to inbox from the menu.

Tip: Answer new messages quickly. Your response time shows on your profile and helps you win work.

Important: Never move a conversation to WhatsApp, Telegram or email. You lose Belancer's protection.
