If your account is outside Bangladesh, Belancer charges you in US dollars (USD). At checkout you can pay with a Debit or credit card through Stripe or with PayPal. Your money is then held safely as Payment Secured and released to the freelancer only when you approve the work. Prices never switch to taka for you, and the freelancer is paid in the same USD you paid.

Before you start

  • A card that allows online payments in USD, or a PayPal account.
  • Your account country set correctly. It decides your currency. See account country and currency.
  • A verified phone number (asked before your first order).

Steps

1Go to checkout

From a gig, a custom offer or a milestone, continue to Confirm and pay.

2Choose who's paying

Under Paying as, choose Personal or a company you belong to. Paying as a company puts the company on the invoice and counts toward its spend limits.

3Pick card or PayPal

Under Payment method ("Charged in USD, the currency of your account"):

  • Debit or credit card: "Visa, Mastercard, Amex and more, through Stripe".
  • PayPal: "Pay with your PayPal balance or a linked card".

4Check the order summary

The Order summary shows the price, any extras, the client service fee as its own line ("Belancer's client fee for payments in USD") and the Total. Choose Pay.

5Finish the payment

  • Card: enter your card details. Your bank may ask for a one-time code (3-D Secure).
  • PayPal: sign in to PayPal and approve the payment.

6Back on Belancer

You return to Belancer automatically and see Confirming your payment for a moment. Then your order starts and you're asked to send your requirements.

What happens next

You receive an email receipt, and an invoice appears under Statements & invoices. The work amount is held as Payment Secured until you approve the delivery or milestone. After your first payment, freelancers see Payment verified on your client profile, which helps you get better proposals.

Troubleshooting

  • "Card payment wasn't completed." You closed the window, or the bank check timed out. No money was taken; your order is saved for 24 hours. Choose Try Debit or credit card again or Use another method.
  • "The payment was declined by your bank or wallet." Your bank refused it, often for international or online limits. Call your bank or use PayPal.
  • "That company pays in another currency." The company's country uses BDT. Pay as Personal or ask the company owner.
  • A pending charge stays on my card after a failure. It's a temporary hold by your bank and falls away by itself.
  • I see a charge in another currency on my statement. Your card or PayPal converted from your home currency. Belancer only charges USD.

Good to know

  • Refunds go to your Belancer Balance in USD by default; you can ask for the original card or PayPal instead. See refunds.
  • Chargebacks: please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback can pause your account while it's checked.
  • One currency per account: you can't mix USD and BDT payments on one account.

Important: Only pay through Belancer's checkout. Paying a freelancer by PayPal or card outside Belancer isn't protected and is against the rules.

Tip: If your bank often blocks online payments, PayPal is usually the quickest way to pay.
