On this page

Inviting good freelancers is the fastest way to get strong proposals. Right after you post, Belancer shows matched freelancers and gigs; choose Invite on the ones you like and add an invite message. You can also Invite by username, or invite someone from their profile with Contact › Invite to project. Invited freelancers can propose without spending credits.

Before you start

  • An open project (live or in review). See post a project.
  • A short invite message explaining why you think they're a good fit.

Steps

1Review your matches

After posting, the page lists Matched freelancers and Matching gigs, labelled Matched by Belancer. Each card shows the rating, rate or price and Why this match (for example "Same sub-category", skills matched, "Fits your budget", "Handpicked by Belancer", "Replies in about" a time).

2Write your invite message

In Invite message ("Sent with each invite", optional), write a friendly line, up to 500 characters. Mention what caught your eye in their profile.

3Invite

Choose Invite on each person. They move to Invites sent with the status Invited. If your project is in review, they show "sent when the project goes live".

4Invite by username

Know someone already? Type their usernames in Invite by username (for example @tania, @rahim) and invite. People already invited or who have proposed are skipped.

5Invite from a profile

While browsing, open a freelancer's profile and choose Contact, then Invite to project. Pick one of your open projects (projects they're already invited to are greyed out), or post a new one.

What happens next

Invited freelancers get an email and a notification. Their status changes to Sent a proposal or Declined. Proposals from invites appear in the Invited tab of your proposals list. See review proposals and shortlist.

Troubleshooting

  • "They were already invited or have sent a proposal." No need to invite again.
  • Daily limit reached. You can send 30 invitations a day. Try again tomorrow.
  • No matches yet. Matching takes a moment ("Finding matches…"). Broaden your skills or budget, or search the freelancer directory.
  • I can't invite from a profile. You can't invite yourself, your own agency or company. Check that the project is still open.

Good to know

  • Invites are free for you: inviting costs clients nothing, and invited freelancers decide whether to send a proposal.
  • Be specific in your note: a short line about why you picked them makes a reply much more likely.
  • Private projects are visible only to freelancers you invite.
  • Handpicked freelancers rank first in matches. See Handpicked badges.
  • Invite more any time from your project's proposals page.

Tip: Invite five to ten well-matched freelancers instead of many. A personal line in the invite message gets more replies.

Note: Invitations never cost you anything. You pay only when you hire and fund work.
