Why phone numbers, emails and links are hidden in chats
In short. Belancer always hides phone numbers, emails, outside links and off-platform payment requests in chats and proposals. Why, what's hidden and how to share work. It takes 4 steps: Type your message as usual; See what's hidden; See what's blocked; Use the safe ways.

On this page
On Belancer, phone numbers, email addresses, outside links and "message me on WhatsApp / Telegram / Skype" are hidden in messages, proposals, cover letters, custom offers, gig text and profiles, at all times. Requests to pay by bKash, Nagad or bank outside Belancer are blocked. This keeps both sides inside Belancer's protection, where money is held as Payment Secured until the work is approved.
Before you start
- You don't need to do anything to turn this on. It always works.
- Use files and Belancer calls to share work and talk.
Steps
1Type your message as usual
If you type a contact detail, a soft warning appears under the box: "Contact details stay hidden on Belancer".
2See what's hidden
If you send it anyway, the detail is masked, for example "[phone hidden]". Phone numbers written in digits (English or Bangla) or in words, emails and outside links are all detected.
3See what's blocked
A request to pay by bKash, Nagad, bank or an outside payment link isn't sent at all.
4Use the safe ways
- Talk: Belancer voice or video calls. See messages and calls.
- Share work: attach files, or use links to allowed work sites.
- Pay: only at Belancer checkout.
What happens next
Nothing happens for an occasional slip; the detail is just hidden. After repeated attempts in a short period, a moderation case opens and staff decide whether a strike is needed. See strikes and restrictions.
Troubleshooting
- A normal number got hidden (like a price or a date). Rephrase it, for example add the currency or write the date with the month name.
- My portfolio link is hidden. It's not on the allowed list. Upload the file or use your Belancer portfolio.
- The client asked for my WhatsApp. Explain it's not allowed and offer a Belancer call. If they insist on paying outside, report it.
Good to know
- Calls and files are the safe way to share anything you'd normally send by phone or email.
- Why it matters: most scams start by moving the chat or payment elsewhere. Hiding contact details stops them early.
- Where it applies: messages, proposals, cover letters, custom offer text, gig text and profile text. Files you attach aren't changed.
- Clients too: the same rules apply to clients, so a client can't pull you off Belancer either.
- Allowed domains are managed by Belancer and can grow over time.
- Belancer calls are not recorded, so you can talk freely about the work.
Tip: Put your best samples in your Belancer portfolio. Clients can see them without any outside links.
Important: Paying or getting paid outside Belancer breaks the rules and removes your protection.
Questions and answers
Why can't I share my phone number, even after the order starts?
Contact details stay hidden at all times, before and during orders, so both sides keep Belancer's payment protection and a clear record.
How do I talk to the client by voice?
Use Belancer's voice or video calls inside the conversation. They work during any conversation or order.
Which links are allowed?
Links to belancer.com and a list of trusted work sites (for example portfolio and code hosting sites) are allowed. Others are hidden.
Will I get a strike for this?
Not for an accident. Repeated attempts to share contact details or move payments off Belancer open a case, and staff may give a strike.
Can I send files?
Yes. Files are the way to share work. Use attachments in the chat or the delivery.
