On this page
To verify your phone, open Verify your phone (from your seller setup or account settings), confirm the number from your sign-up, choose Send code, then type the 6-digit SMS code and choose Verify phone. A verified phone is needed before you sell, place your first order or make your first withdrawal.
Before you start
- The mobile phone you gave at sign-up, switched on and with signal.
- Codes by SMS go only to Bangladeshi numbers. Outside Bangladesh, codes come by email or WhatsApp.
Steps
1Open Verify your phone
Freelancers find it in the seller setup under Verification, or in the next-step list as Verify your phone to go live. Clients are asked when they place their first order.
2Confirm your number
Belancer shows "We'll send a code to" the number from your sign-up. Type that number once more to confirm it. Need another number? Choose Use a different number.
3Send the code
Choose Send code. You see "Code sent by SMS to" your number. It works for 10 minutes. On most phones the code fills in by itself.
4Enter the code
Type all 6 digits in 6-digit code and choose Verify phone.
5Done
You see Your phone is verified. Freelancers continue to the ID check: "Next, verify your ID to publish gigs and withdraw."
What happens next
A Phone verified tick appears on your profile. You can now sign in with your mobile number. If a friend invited you, their invite reward is credited once your phone is verified.
Troubleshooting
- The SMS didn't arrive. Wait for the countdown, then choose Send a new code. Check that the number is right, your phone has signal, and your inbox isn't full. Restarting the phone often helps.
- "Wrong code." Use the newest SMS. Asking for a new code cancels older ones.
- "Too many wrong codes. Ask for a new one." The code stopped working after 5 wrong tries. Send a new code.
- "Too many codes this hour." You can ask for 5 codes an hour. Try again later.
- "This number is used by another account." Sign in to that account, or use a different number.
- My number has changed. Choose Use a different number, or change it later in your account settings. See change email, phone or password.
Good to know
- Clients: you are asked to verify your phone when you place your first order, so freelancers know they're working with a real person.
- Freelancers: a verified phone is one of the hard requirements to go live, together with at least one portfolio project and the ID check. Your profile stays in draft until all are done.
- Payout security: adding or changing a payout account and confirming a withdrawal also use SMS codes, so keep your number working.
- Bangla or English SMS: if your language is Bangla, codes come in Bangla; otherwise in English.
Important: Never share an SMS code with anyone. Belancer will never call you to ask for it. Every money code also names the amount or account it is for, so read the SMS before you type it.
Note: Phone changes are limited to 2 a year, so keep the number you use most.
Questions and answers
When do I need to verify my phone?
Before you start selling, before your first order and before your first withdrawal. You can do it earlier from your seller setup or account settings.
How long does the SMS code work?
10 minutes. After that, ask for a new code.
I live outside Bangladesh. Will I get an SMS?
No. Belancer sends SMS codes only to Bangladeshi numbers. If you're outside Bangladesh, your codes come by email or WhatsApp.
Will clients see my phone number?
Never. Your number is private. Only a Phone verified tick shows on your profile.
Can two accounts use the same number?
No. Each mobile number belongs to one Belancer account.
After verifying, can I sign in with my mobile number?
Yes. A verified mobile number works in the Email or mobile number box on the sign-in page.
